Performing Arts

Performing Arts Department

Introduction
We are a vibrant and creative faculty bursting with energy and enthusiasm for our subjects and our pupils. Whilst the performing arts subjects are taught separately, they are very much interrelated. We encourage pupils to think about their work with them, as well as their work in the wider curriculum, in relation to how these benefit each other in the classroom, in collaborative extra-curricular projects and in the workplace. With the UK creative industries generating more than £100bn a year to the UK economy we are a department that has a lot to offer.

The benefits of participating in creative and performing arts subjects are now widely recognised and have most recently been noted for their importance to our mental health and well-being. They give us the chance to explore and respond to stimuli, physically and emotionally, and provide opportunities for us to think creatively and take risks with the way in which we learn. Such an approach fosters a fascination and engagement in the work and through this we see some of our most creative results emerge.
