World Book Day

Hundreds of books were collected to support Oxfam’s response to the ‘refugee crisis’ on World Book Day at St Richard’s.

Pupil, Natalia Szelest, said, ‘I think this is a great chance to support Oxfam for the ‘refugee crisis.’ We really enjoyed all our activities on World Book Day.

Ms Tocknell, school librarian, said, ‘Pupils in English have been writing letters for a scheme called ‘message in a book’ about the refugee crisis for Oxfam. These books are all going to the Oxfam shop in Western Road, Bexhill.  Hundreds of books have been collected and many will have a message from a St Richard’s pupil. If any reader does buy one it would be great to have a letter back to the school, we can make sure the child who wrote it receives it.’

Lots of fun events at break and lunchtime and book tokens are being given to pupils to encourage them to buy something new. Pupils are also all following a blog of authors on the World Book Day site.
