Southern Railway: Updated Strike Information

Southern Railway – Updated Strike Information 18th January 2017

Update from Southern Rail:

RMT strike action

The RMT union has announced strike action by its conductor members on Monday 23 January. We expect to run about 70 per cent of the normal timetable on that day – more than we have been able to provide on previous RMT strike days.

The following routes – previously suspended on RMT conductor strike days – will now operate on Monday:

  • Eastbourne – Hastings
  • Chichester – Portsmouth and Southampton
  • Lewes – Haywards Heath
  • Coastway stations (including Bognor, Littlehampton, Eastbourne, Worthing and Hastings) will regain a direct service to London

Routes that previously finished early in the evening will also run much later on Monday. Details will be available as soon as possible on Southern’s web site at http://www.southernrailway.com/your-journey/strike.

ASLEF suspends industrial action

The ASLEF union has suspended strikes planned for Tuesday 24, Wednesday 25 and Friday 27 January 2017, and from today (Wednesday 18 January) has suspended its overtime ban for its driver members.

We regret that the overtime ban will continue to affect services for the next few days, but we are now working to restore the full timetable from Tuesday 24 January, and will reinstate services in the interim where possible. We continue to advise passengers to check train times shortly before they travel.
