Announcement to Pupils, Parents and Carers.

Dear Pupils, Parents and Carers

It is with great sadness that I write to inform you of the death of Year 8 pupil, Sophie Maria Taylor, who died peacefully on Wednesday, 5th April. Sophie had cancer which was recently diagnosed as incurable.

She was a beautiful, angelic pupil who loved learning. Popular amongst her peers, she was a kind friend with a really gentle nature, serene look and a calm approach. She took her treatment in her stride and never once did she complain. Her beautiful smile touched all whom she met. May she now rest in peace.

On behalf of the whole school community, prayers will be offered for the repose of Sophie’s soul and for Sophie’s mum, dad and siblings. (Jan, Mary & George)

A memorial/condolence book for pupils/staff to write messages and memories will be opened on the first day of term five.

Everyone is welcome to her funeral which will take place on Wednesday, 12th April at St Mary Star of the Sea Church in Hastings at 10:00AM.

Donations to the “Royal Marsden Cancer Charity” (who really looked after Sophie) or flowers (Sophie loved flowers) are at your discretion. At the family’s request, I have been asked to mention that you must not feel obliged to wear black.

Any pupils able to sing in the choir are asked to attend an hour’s rehearsal on Tuesday, 11th April in Music Room 2 with Mrs Byrne or alternatively arrive at the Church just after 9:00am for a quick rehearsal.

Please keep Sophie and her family in your prayers.

Yours sincerely

Miss D Cronin

Principal
